Michelle Blanchard Recognized Nationally with NAWDP 2017 Professional Development Award

Picture
Michelle has over 12 years’ experience in Workforce Development and a unique set of skills that surpass her extensive knowledge of Workforce Development programs. While completing her undergraduate education, Michelle led a team of research assistants studying the underrepresentation of women in IT majors.  Because of this research, Michelle was a co-author on scholarly journal articles, conference publications and was a published contributor to the book, Women and Information Technology: Research on Underrepresentation. She went on to complete her Master of Science Degree in Administrative Leadership and has continued to use her education and experience to meet the needs of the customers she serves.

Michelle began her career as a Case Manager with Goodwill Industries.  From there, she moved into a Career Coach position with Kaiser Group, now DWFS, where she eventually embraced the opportunity to become a Trainer. As a Trainer, she evaluated the needs of employers, students, case managers and local industries to design, develop and facilitate training programs.

Her passion for teaching, training and learning led her to several leadership roles including, Supervisor in Milwaukee and Program Manager in Pewaukee and Walworth where her team specialized in WIA/WIOA operations. Her dedication to the customers and her team resulted in Michelle winning Project of The Year in 2013, which highlights her ability to deeply understand the industry and provide solutions that exceed the expectations of her customers.

In 2013, Michelle blended her passion for Workforce Development and her expertise in Adult and Continuing Education Leadership to become the General Manager for Dynamic Works Institute. Under her leadership, DWI has conducted a complete renovation of course materials, training platforms, and delivery methods to meet the needs of Workforce Development Professionals in all 50 United States, Puerto Rico and Guam.

Rather than adopting a product catalogue with a “one size fits all” approach, Michelle focuses on custom design work for Workforce Development Professionals, Employers, Workforce Boards, US Departments of Labor and Commerce, Universities and Community Colleges. She uses a Design-Centered approach which allows customers to be a partner in developing training that represents and reflects them and their needs.

Michelle received her well-deserved award at the NAWDP Conference on May 23rd. See photos below!

Beki Lockery Recognized With The NAWDP 2016 Professional Development Award
Beki Lockery began her career in workforce development as a case manager and motivational workshop facilitator in 1990 with Forward Service Corporation in Shawano, Wisconsin. She soon became a trainer for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Center for Career Development and Education and Training, as the very first JOBS Trainer employed in the state. Her first task was to develop New Worker Training for professionals in the field, which set the course for her expertise in the field in professional development for professionals within workforce services.

Beki defines the essence of training as delivering a message with the careful thought of the target audience to make meaningful connections with families and employment, no matter the training platform. Her strength is in strategic planning and resource management, and overseeing the execution of training events, such as classes and contact hours, annually for the state providers. All training sessions are evaluated via survey. Beki and the team consistently meet or exceed the high expectations of the funding source.

In 2014 Beki’s training unit was named Project of the Year with Dynamic Workforce Solutions. This honor is obtained through the measurement of six impact categories, including climate survey results, turnover rate and overall management of a successful contract with the Department of Children and Families in Wisconsin. On February 8, 2016, Beki’s team became ISO-9001 certified. The first workforce development training team in the US to accomplish this exceptional level of certification.

Over the years, Beki has embraced and demonstrated her ability to manage a virtual team of trainers, which is also challenging.  She consistently adapts to the evolving needs of her funding source and maintains cost effectives in her training plan for the state.

Beki has an unwavering commitment to training her team members. In turn, she impacts the service delivery of highly qualified case managers. Through her tenure, Beki has been able to change the tone from a “follow policy and process” mentality to a culture of support. All the while, keeping a focus on empowering job seekers, rather than enabling them, and remaining true to the helping profession she deeply adores.

For nearly two decades, Beki has been committed to the overall growth and positive image of the workforce development profession; and has made significant contributions to the overall growth and positive image of the workforce development profession in many ways.
